How LEEP Works with the Community
The Lithgow Emerging Economy Plan (LEEP) is built on the belief that a successful transition must be shaped by the people who live and work here. That’s why community engagement is at the heart of everything we do.
Whether you’re sharing feedback, joining a network, or just staying informed – you are part of the LEEP community. Residents, community members, business owners, students, First Nations, community leaders… no matter who you are in Lithgow, your voice matters. We want to enable everyone in the Lithgow LGA to have an opportunity to help shape our region’s future.
Annual community workshop and check-in
Each year, we host a one-day Community Workshop – a key moment in the LEEP calendar. This event brings together residents, local organisations, and stakeholders to:
- Reflect on progress
- Share ideas and concerns
- Help shape the next phase of the transition
The workshop is supported by an online survey, so even if you can’t attend in person, you can still have your say.
The annual community workshops will commence from 2026, as Lithgow City Council is already undertaking extensive community consultation and visioning work in 2025 through its refresh of the Community Strategic Plan.
egular events and conversations
Throughout the year, we host a range of events to keep the community informed and involved. These include:
- The LEEP Speaker Series – inspiring talks and panel discussions on topics like renewable energy, workforce transition, innovation, leadership, and community wellbeing.
- Pop-up displays and info sessions – at public events, and the Central West Adaptive Skills Hub – 176 Mort Street Lithgow.
- Online updates and newsletters – to keep you in the loop. You can sign-up for the newsletter here.
Our events are designed to be welcoming, informative, and interactive – a chance to contribute, learn, and connect.

A Community of Contributors
We know that many people want to stay closely connected to the transition process and help shape it from within. That’s why we’ve created opportunities for deeper engagement through our working groups and networks – including the Lithgow Workforce Forum, Place-makers Network, Health and Ageing Network, and more.
